The objectives of the Society inter-alia are the following :

• To promote the advancement of nuclear science, engineering and technology related to the atomic nucleus, and of allied sciences and arts
• To aid in the integration of the several disciplines constituting nuclear science, engineering and technology
• To encourage research in nuclear science, engineering, technology and allied fields
• To establish scholarships, grants and awards useful in furthering the foregoing objectives
• To hold meetings for the presentation and discussion of scientific and technical papers
• To prepare and disseminate information related to nuclear science, engineering and technology through journals, books, pamphlets, reports and other information media appropriate to a scientific and technical society
• To co-operate with government agencies, educational institutions, and other organisations having the same or similar purposes
• To engage in such other activities as may be appropriate for the fulfilment of the objectives of the Society
